Mold testing prices vary greatly in the industry. Prices depend on the types of tests conducted. So let’s discover the typical tests done for mold.
Air Samples – Air sampling us very common. A small cartridge containing a ‘ sticky ‘ slide is used. A certain, pre-determined amount of ambient air is hooked to tubing where a calibrated air pump pushes air through the cartridge and the mold spores impact the slide. The cartridge is then sent to a laboratory for analysis. This results in a report that depicts the types of mold and the concentration found in the air.
Direct Swab Tests – sterile swabs are wiped against the suspected mold and sent to a lab for analysis.
Direct Tape Lift – Sterile clear tape if placed in the potential mold placed in a sterile bag and sent to the lab for analysis and reporting.
ERMI Wipes – Sterile cloth is wiped against the potential mold or dust and sent to a lab for analysis and reporting.
Costs – Air samples can cost $100 to $200 per sample each and it is industry standard to take at least one sample from outdoor air for comparison. Direct samples typically cost $100 to $200 each.
Bear in mind that a formal mold inspection can cost between $500 and $1500 which is where the inspector surveys each area such as attic, basement or crawlspace, etc.
Not legal advice for many times mold has be proven not just someone’s opinion.
